Ourdoor Lighting Came Back On But Dimm

I want to run a new 12/3 to wire a room added on the back of the house. One circuit will be 6 wall outlets. The other will be a ceiling fan and 4 recessed cans. Can I add 2 outdoor lights-using standard outdoor bulbs-to the same circuit as the ceiling lights? Do I use the wall switch(box properly sized) as the junction for the outlet wiring and feed to wall switch for outdoor lights?
      

I am remodeling my basement and I have a dilema with the wiring. Upstairs I have a switch that can turn on/off the basement lights. Downstairs i currently have a switch that can turn off/on the lights, I guess they both are 3 way switches.



My problem is that I want to install two different zones of dim-able lighting downstairs, but want the upstairs light-switch to turn on both zones. Once downstairs I can have the option of dimming each zone.



How would I go about wiring this?
      

I am currently remodeling a bedroom in my home for a new baby.  I have gutted the room and am replacing all the electrical and adding new recessed lighting.  The room will also have a ceiling fan, along with the recessed lighting.  I am looking for a single gang light switch that will operate the ceiling fan independently of the recessed lighting, with a dimmer for the recessed lighting.  I don't have room for a double gang box where the switch is currently placed, as there is a closet in the way.  Is there such a thing as a switch that will operate the ceiling fan and it's lighting on a normal on/off switch, with a dimmer that can independently control the recessed lighting?  I have checked with the local big box stores and everyone has told me I will have to run two switches.  Is this the case?  Any info would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
      

Okay, I am fairly new to wiring but its not the wiring I am wondering about.  It is running the wires.  I have 2 rooms in my house, 2 story and an attic, on the main floor that doesn't have any overhead lighting, only can use floor or table lamps right now.  The ceilings are about 10 feet tall.  There are outlets in the room so I do have power I can tap into for the lighting, but how do I go about running the wires up into the ceiling?  I do know I have to cut the hole for the lighting but will i have to put cut flaps in the drywall where ever there is a brace to drill holes to run the wires.  I am going to go from the middle of the ceiling straight back to the wall and then down to the switch that I will put in and then down to the outlet to tap into for the power.  I am just trying to do this the easiest way to minimize any drywall repair that will be needed.  Any help or suggestions from anyone is greatly appreciated and if you have questions please ask and I willl try to answer them.
      

After my electrical panel was replaced I noticed that my ceiling fan light was dim.  My fan works fine on all speeds but the light is dim.  It is a Hampton Bay model MKV with a remote control.  Wondering if it could be a relay problem with the unit??
      

Looking for a way to automatically keep my two outdoor bulbs shut off during the day.  The timers seem to be on the expensive side and from what I read the screw-in sensors don't work very well.  Would appreciate some recommendations.

Hey guys and gals,



got a very odd dilemma, in my dining room there is a chandelier lamp that is controlled through a dimmer switch(even though it is not a dimmer). There is also a closet with a light switch as well.



The odd circumstance i am having is when the closet light is on(via its own switch), and you turn on the dinning room light, the closet light goes out. Then if you turn the dining room light off,the closet light turns back on.



The closest light switch has zero effect on the dining room light, the dining room light seems to have control over the closet light and dining room light.



Any ideas on a fix. I was thing just replacing the dimmer(once again does not actually dim) with a single pole interrupter. I just dont want to burn my house down
      

Hello there,



I just installed a new fixture in my dining room. It has 5 MR16 halogen bulbs. When i turn on the light switch, the lights are gradually turning on to full brightness. The process takes a between 5 to 10 seconds.



I removed one of the bulb and noticed it took a bit less time and continued until I had only 3 bulbs and then the lights are turning on instantly.



So I think its obvious that the fixture is drawing too much power from the circuit. My question is, why? What tests can I dk to find the cause? Is it a faulty switch or faulty wiring?

Hi all! 



I'm trying to install an outdoor box for my low voltage lighting controller unit.  I have an electrical junction box that's split from indoors and leads to a post lamp.  I'm wondering how I split this junction box off to a simple 110 receptical for my outdoor lighting controller.  I've attached a picture just in case I didn't explain well.  Thank everyone for the help!!!




      

Just bought some LED lights for the porch, but I realized the new digital timer in wall switch I purchased to replace the on/off says it's for incandescent only.  Been looking online, but couldn't find anything specific for LEDs, what should I use?
